ENGLISH PROFILIST, LATE 18TH C SILHOUETTE OF JAMES WALLACE (1729-1783) cut paper, 9.5 x 7cm, oval pearwood frame with fragmentary old label inscribed James Wallace His Majesty's Attorney General, obt 1783, a silhouette of a young girl, brown paint, pencilled in gilt on card, pearwood frame and an oval miniature of a child with a bird on a string, watercolour, en grisaille, in hammered metal frame (3)James Wallace, MP (1729-1783) of Carleton Hall, son of Thomas Wallace of Asholme, Northumberland by his wife Dulcibella, daughter of John Sowerbye of Botcherby who became Attorney General in 1780 and is buried in Exeter Cathedral. He married in 1767 Elizabeth, daughter and heiress of Thomas Simpson of Carleton Hall. His portrait by Romney is in Newcastle University (Hatton Gallery).
