BRITISH SCHOOL, 19TH CENTURY PORTRAIT OF AN OFFICER bust length, oil on canvas, 51 x 43cmAccording to a label on the frame the sitter is the so called Black Captain of Kinloch, Donald McPherson who, in the mid 18th c married Mary McPherson, daughter of Angus McPherson of Killiehuntly. They had a son Angus (d 1820) and daughter Beatrice, who married, c1780 James McBarnet.
