A SÈVRES PLATE, THE PORCELAIN C1780, REDECORATED BY THOMAS MARTIN RANDALL, C1840 24cm diam Provenance: Russell, Baldwin & Bright, Leominster, 21 March 1996.The three border panels of Sèvres style birds painted by Thomas Martin Randall; the flower group attributed to Robert Bix Gray. The ground and gilding as that on the Nicquet plate. That Sèvres piece of "Randall's china" is marked for 1765 and the painter Nicquet. It is the only example seen with clear evidence of the removal of the original flower decoration, before being re-decorated with pink ground and gilding 'emphasised' in puce. Its owner confirmed that the ground and gilding match the Nicquet plate.
