A COALPORT YELLOW GROUND COMPORT, 1889-91 pattern X107Without a factory mark, but apparently decorated in underglaze black this comport might be thought to predate 1876, but Messenger states that the X series was introduced after 1889. The central painting also suggests this later period. Record notes suggest X107 was listed in the pattern book as "with flowers in the centre" but on this example there are birds perhaps egrets.
