A COALPORT FLORAL ENCRUSTED STAND, TWO SIMILAR MINIATURE WARES AND A SAUCER, C1830-41 stand 21.5cm diam, rare printed mark, underglaze blue CD and gilt initials WTThe letters 'WT' incorporated in some Minton's marks may refer to Dr Wilton Turner "who took out a patent for an improved softer porcelain in July 1839, jointly with Herbert Minton." See Godden (G A), Minton Pottery and Porcelain of the First Period 1793-1850, pp13-14. The 'WP' in the rare printed mark on the stand may refer to some similar arrangement with Coalport. 'WT34' in gilt on the saucer appears also in one of the Minton's marks
