A COALPORT BLUE AND WHITE JUG, JOHN ROSE & CO, 1796-C1800 AND A SIMILAR CONTEMPORARY CHINESE SAUCER printed with the Latticed Fence and Pagoda and painted with the Latticed Urn and Fence patterns respectivelyProvenance: Bill Dickenson, Ironbridge.The jug is of the plain 1796 shape, with latticed fence and pagoda and secondary prints from Calcut's Round Arched Bridge and the oval flower border found on the two Calcut mugs above. The decoration on the Chinese saucer with its latticed fence is similar in style to the main print on the jug and the source of the latticed urn and fence on the Caughley saucer illustrated 1989, p27; 2004, p470 and 2013, p191. A similar jug in the Godden Reference Collection, illustrated 1989, p98, 1985, p337 and 2004, p500, was sold Bonhams, 13 November, 2013, lot 220.
