SOUVENIR ALBUM ENTITLED 'WILD FLOWERS OF THE HOLY LAND', late 19th / early 20th century, large 8vo, containing 40 leaves of elaborate designs made entirely of flowers, mounted on card, each leaf with a manuscript title eg Gardens of Herod, Mount of Olives, Bethesda, Tombs of the Judges, etc, cards with loose tissue guards, another initial leaf at the beginning with the initials of the recipient 'A W' [A. Whitlaw] made of flowers, in an attractive binding with a red morocco spine gilt with raised bands, gilt title lettering, gilt flower devices in 3 compartments with Hebrew lettering for 'Jerusalem' in another, polished olive wood boards with panels and inlays of contrasting wood, upper board with Hebrew lettering for 'Jerusalem', gilt edges to card leaves. Contained in a modern solander box. This album would have been especially commissioned by the donor for the recipient - the first leaf has a manuscript inscription 'To A Whitlaw from P Southby, Jerusalem, March 20th'.
